Couple Reports Theft of Dog to Fenton Police

Officers recover the animal later that day.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fenton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Fenton resident, 22, reported the theft of a purebred, long-haired Chihuahua around 5 p.m. on Oct. 9.

Fenton police received the call from the woman and her boyfriend, said Chief of Police Rick Aro. The couple reported that the woman's brother, 19, also of Fenton, visited the couple and left with the dog soon afterward. The suspect, who had been petting the dog, picked it up and quickly left with it in his vehicle, police reports stated.

The couple had obtained a loan from the suspect to buy the dog, they reported. The man said he believed the suspect took the animal because there was a misunderstanding about repayment.

Officers located the dog that evening, in another relative's home. They returned it to the owner, Aro said.

He was taken to court and arraigned on his previous warrants.
