Crime and Fire Report: Hummer Burns on Owen Road

The following arrest information was supplied by area police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Fenton Police and Fire responded to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Bob Evans on Owen Road around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said an officer was in the area and saw smoke coming from a Hummer and assisted in getting passengers out of the vehicle. They were not injured.

Fenton Fire Chief Robert Cairnduff said the vehicle was fully involved when firefighters arrived. He said there was a leak in the gas tank and firefighters had to clean up gas and oil.

Cairnduff said the vehicle was a total loss.

A officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle that ran through a red light on North Road near North Leroy Street around 9:15 a.m. April 14 and smelled the strong odor of intoxicants and observed an open beer on the passenger side floor board.

The driver took a preliminary breath test, which revealed a blood/alcohol content of less than the legal limit of .08, said Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro.

Police impounded the vehicle and issued the 37-year-old Fenton resident a ticket for open intoxicants and running the red light.

Missing brass

Employees of on North Leroy Street reported a brass plumbing fitting missing from behind their building on April 13.

The piece is valued at $500. Police have no suspects.
