Crime Report: Fenton Man Dies in Car Crash, Marijuana Arrest Made in Bush Park

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fenton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Fenton man died Friday morning after a car crash in Tyrone Township.

Alcohol and speed were factors in the crash that killed 22-year-old Brian Zaffer around 3 a.m. on Linden Road near Turner Road, WHMI (93.5) reported.

Zaffer crashed into a tree and died at the scene after leaving on Bennett Lake Road, according to the Livingston Daily Press & Argus. The article stated he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Marijuana arrest at Bush Park

A officer arrested a 23-year-old Fenton man for possession of marijuana after conducting a special watch on on May 28 after several residents' complaints of illegal activity.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said the officer saw two males and a female walk to the secluded southwest corner of the park around 7:15 p.m. He approached the group and saw a plastic sandwhich bag in the hand of one of the males. He ordered the man to drop the bag and determined it to be marijuana. The officer arrested the man and he was later given a notice to appear in court. The other two individual were released.

Failure to yield to emergency vehicle

Police ticketed a 68-year-old Linden resident for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle on US 23 near Silver Lake Road around 5 p.m. May 27.

Aro said there were lanes available and the resident did not move over for a stationary emergency vehicle.

Stolen tool box

A 44-year-old Fenton resident reported his Craftsman tool box, valued at $70, missing from his garage on the 200 block of Armstrong Street to police on May 25.

Aro said the man said a door to the garage had been left unlocked.

Police have no suspects.

Stolen catalytic converter

A VG's employee reported that someone stole his catalytic converter from his 2003 Chevrolet Venture van in the parking lot while he was working from 6:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on May 25.

Police have no suspects.
