Crime Report: Man Pays for Forged Prescription with Bad Check

Police are searching for a man who filled out a fraudulent prescription and paid for the prescription drugs with a bad check at

Chief Rick Aro said store employees said a man came into the pharmacy Dec. 28 with an out-of-town prescription for Oxycontin and Cymbalta and paid $1,270.65 with a personal check.

Aro said when store personnel tried to cash the check bank employees advised the funds were frozen. Pharmacy employees contacted the suspect, who said he was unable to pay the bill. Pharmacy employees then contacted the doctor’s officer and found the prescription had been fraudulent, Aro said.

Aro said police attempted to contact the suspect, a 61-year-old Okemos man, but the number had been disconnected.

Detectives continue to investigate the case.

Missing Wallet

Police are investigating a 52-year-old Linden woman’s complaint of a missing wallet from on Silver Parkway.

Aro said a woman left her purse in the store, and it was turned over to store employees, but she said her wallet that contained a small amount of cash was missing.

Police have no suspects, but are investigating the video footage form the incident.
