Crime Report: Police Searching for Cigarette Thief

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fenton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction

Police are still searching for the person they believe is  from several area stores.

The latest incident was reported shortly after 9:40 p.m. Sept. 8 by an employee at the . Aro said the person asked for three cartons of cigarettes and a bottle of liquor. When the employee set the cartons on the counter to retrieve the liquor, the suspect grabbed them and ran out the door, Aro said.

“Other municipalities have had the same thefts,” Aro said.” They have been done in the same way.”

The suspect is reported to be 6’0” to 6’3” with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.

Police have released a photo of a vehicle they believe was involved in the theft of an air conditioning unit from Matt and Terry’s Market on Aug. 5.  

According to the police report, the vehicle appears to be a General Motors standard cab pickup with 4X4 on the rear bed. There is a noticeable rust hole above the rear driver’s side wheel. The tailgate also appears to allow for a fifth wheel trailer, as the center of it is cut down. Two males are seen on surveillance footage, pulling up to the air conditionng unit, then loading it into the bed of the pickup and driving off.   Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Fenton Police at 810-629-5311.

Theft from a vehicle

Fenton Police are continuing to investigate a report of a theft of a purse from a vehicle that occurred around 10:40 p.m Sept. 7 at The BP gas station on Owen Road.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro reported a BP employee had forgotten her cell phone and left her car unlocked when she went into the gas station to retrieve it and returned to see her purse was missing.

Aro said police reviewed surveillance video footage and watched a tan Chevrolet Trailblazer pull up behind the vehicle before a female opened the door and took the purse.

Neither police nor employees could identify the suspect or the vehicle.

Aro said the woman reported a MP3 player, gift, credit and debit cards were in the purse. Police are following card information for any leads.

Theft from a vehicle

Police are investigating a report of a theft from a vehicle on the 100 block of West Elizabeth Street that occurred between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Aro said a resident reported two vehicles at their home were broken into and $120 in cash and an iPod was missing.

Police have no suspects.
