Crime Report: Teen Critically Injured in US 23 Crash, Linden Teen Charged with Retail Fraud

A high-speed rollover crash on U.S. 23 in Tyrone Township Thursday morning critically injured a 13-year-old Burton girl, according to police.
assisted the Livingston County Sheriff's Department after a 2000 Buick, traveling 112 mph on US 23 North near White Lake Road rolled several times around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
The crash ejected the teen, who was the only one in the vehicle not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

A rescue helipcopter took the girl, Jacqueline Wault, who is now listed in stable condition, to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, while rescue crews transported her father Michael Leroy Wault, 53, of Burton, who apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and 1-year-old sister to Genesys Regional Medical Center, according to the Livingston Daily Press and Argus.
The article stated the crash closed U.S. 23 for several hours and two additional crashes occurred following the rollover.

Retail Fraud
Fenton police arrested a 19-year-old Linden resident on charges on retail fraud after Walmart employees told police he had taken items out of the store without paying for them.
Walmart officials told police the suspect entered the store on June 6 around 3:45 p.m. and concealed a bottle of cologne and exited the store without paying for the item.
Police made a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle near the store and recovered the alledged stolen $19 cologne. Aro said the officer also observed a Sirius Satellite Radio in the vehicle, which the suspect later admitted to stealing as well as several other items.
Aro said he was held overnight and given a notice to appear in court.
