Farmington Investigators Looking for High School Band Room Vandals

Anyone who has information about the Nov. 3 incident at Farmington High is asked to contact police.

Farmington Public Safety investigators remain confident they will identify the vandals who trashed the Farmington High School band room and student lockers Nov. 3.

Students and parents discovered the mess and damage upon their return from the Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA) state finals at Ford Field in Detroit. According to FPS Commander Frank Demers, several cell phones and an iPod were ruined, some money was taken and "they just messed up the place."

He said the case has been assigned to school liaison officer Christine Schutz, who is working closely with Farmington High school officials, as well as those from other schools, to identify suspects. Demers said the case is generating discussion among students, and he believes someone will come forward with information.

"I'm real confident we're going to find out who it is," he said.

Demers also urged anyone with any information to contact Det. Schutz at Farmington Public Safety, 248-474-4700.

The incident actually occurred on Saturday, November 3rd between 3:00-6:00 p.m. The damage was discovered around 8:00 and immediately reported to the police, who were there investigating until after midnight. At least two iPods and a couple hundred dollars in cash were stolen and some cell phones were used to send text messages before being broken or submerged in pop. All of this damage occurred while the marching band was at Ford Field giving the best performance ever, and everyone returned in high spirits with a 5th place win, only to be completely deflated by what these vandals did to the band's home base. Everyone is sad and frustrated that the people responsible have not been caught. If anyone has any information that could help catch the vandals and return stolen property, please call the police as soon as possible.
