Fenton Teenager Arrested on Marijuana Charge After Car Crash

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fenton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Fenton Police arrested a 15-year-old Fenton boy on a possession of marijuana charge and cited him for failure to yield to another vehicle after a car crash on Oct. 9 near North Leroy Street and South Long Lake Road.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said the teenager drove his mother’s 1997 Buick northbound on North Leroy at 3:20 p.m. and attempted to turn left on South Long Lake Road when he failed to yield and struck a 1989 Honda driving southbound on North Leroy.

The driver of the Honda, a 55-year-old Morrice woman, suffered minor injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene, Aro said.

According to the police report, the responding officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana at the scene and noticed suspicious behavior from the 15-year-old driver and his two teen passengers -- a 17-year-old Fenton resident and an 18-year-old Flint resident.

Aro said the teenagers granted consent for the officer to search the vehicle and the officer found a small amount of marijuana, a pipe and other paraphernalia. Aro said the teenagers admitted to smoking marijuana before the accident.

All three teenagers were charged with possession of marijuana and were given notices to appear in court. The 15-year-old had a graduated drivers license.

Does having a graduated license means he loses his license?
