Furnace Causes Roof Fire at Acument Global Technologies

Blaze began around 6 a.m. Sunday, burns 30 by 30 foot patch of the roof.

A heat treating furnace caused a roof fire at Acument Global Technologies Sunday morning, firefighters said.

Fenton Fire Lt. Jeff Shook said the received a call around 6:15 a.m. about flames on the roof at 2480 Owen Road. There were flames and smoke showing when firefighters arrived, Shook said, and firefighters used a ladder to access the roof. Shook said it took about an hour to extinguish the fire, which burned a 30 by 30 foot section of the roof.

He said a heat treating furnace overheated and caused the fire, damaging the area around the furnace, and left the roof with just sheet metal. Firefighters cleared the scene around 9 a.m.
