Linden Man Rolls Car on U.S. 23, Misplaced Gun Returned to Owner

Man suffers injuries in crash, refuses medical treatment.

A 29-year-old Linden resident rolled his car on U.S. 23 near Owen Road at 1:50 a.m. Friday, police said.

Chief Rick Aro said the man was driving too fast for the rainy conditions and his vehicle began to hydroplane, causing him to lose control and rear end another vehicle. The 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer then left the roadway, hit a tree and rolled on its side.

Aro said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries, but refused medical treatment.

Fenton Police believe a Fenton man placed his gun in the wrong vehicle after reporting it stolen.

Aro said the man told police someone stole his .45 caliber pistol from underneath his seat, while parked on the shoulder near Beach and Wood Streets between 3 and 5 p.m. Aug. 7. Aro said the man did have a permit to carry the weapon.

The next day police received a report from a man that found the gun in his wife’s vehicle, which was very similar to the vehicle of the man with the missing gun. He brought the gun to the police department and it was returned to the owner.
