A fire destroyed a home in Fenton Township Tuesday.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze, which occured at 13525 Torrey Road.

Fire officials said the fire originated in the garage and quickly spread to the breezeway of the two-story house. The owner, Shirley Walker, was not injured and was resting at a neighbor's house according to her daughter, Kelly Narring.

"We have no idea what happened," Narring said. "I was on the phone with her 10 minutes earlier."

Batallion Chief Ryan Volz said officials were unsure of the cause. The garage burned to the ground and the house had major smoke and water damage.

"It should have been contained, but it worked its way in quickly," Volz said.

Along with Fenton Township, the and Mundy Township fire departments assisted well into the evening as firefighters extinguished hot spots. The departments rotated between five tankers.

Narring said Walker had lived in the home for more than 30 years.
