Police: 25-year-old Fenton Man Found Dead on Family's Couch

Police chief said family members had concerns about his welfare recently.

Family members awakened to find a 25-year-old Fenton resident dead on the couch around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chinkapin Rill trailer park, near Jennings road, west of U.S. 23, police said.

Chief Rick Aro said family members checked on him around 4 a.m. and found him asleep and snoring, but said he died some time between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.

While Aro said the cause of death is unknown, there was no signs of foul play or forced entry in the residence, but the man was taking some medications.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday and police are waiting for the toxicology reports.

“The family had some concerns about his welfare over the last couple years.” Aro said. “He lost his mother, who passed away some time before in a car accident.”

Aro said police seized prescription medication from the home. 

“He probably ingested something that caused his death,” Aro said. “There were no physical signs of natural health issues. Until we get the tox screen we won’t know for sure.”

There have been four other in the Fenton area during the. Some to , but Aro said in this incident there was no physical evidence of heroin use.

“I have no idea if that’s the case or not,” Aro said. “At this point we will have to wait and see.”
