Police Arrest Son of Missing Troy Man; Search for Body Covers Holly, Genesee County

Patrick Joseph Mikes Jr. was arrested in the case of his father's disappearance. Police continue searching for the Troy father's body in the Montrose area of Genesee County.

Patrick Joseph Mikes Jr., the son of missing Troy man Patrick Joseph Mikes, was arrested Wednesday and will face charges related to the death of his father.

Mikes Jr. is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at 52-4 District Court in Troy on a charge of homicide-open murder. 

Troy Police announced the news of the arrest on Wednesday night.

"We're very proud of the investigation that has been conducted in order to meet the substantial requirements for obtaining a murder warrant without a body," Troy Police Department spokesman Capt. Robert Redmond said.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for the body of , 55, who was .

According to a media release from the , investigators are still focusing on areas along Interstate 75 between Troy and Montrose, which is north of Flint in Genesee County. "Investigators are also focusing on Saturday, July 29, 2012 between the hours of 10:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. as a time of significance," the release stated.

Police are also asking anyone who may have seen a beige 2002 Infinity 135 in the areas listed above, during the times listed above, to call Troy Police.

Police  in Genesee County using cadaver dogs, WXYZ reportedFox 2 reported police had searched the Flint River in Montrose and circulated a flier of the Infiniti, which police believe may have been used to move the body.

Police also searched the Brent Run landfill in Montrose and the 8,000-acre Holly Recreation Area in Oakland County, Local 4 reported.

Police believe Mikes was  on Homewood Drive between July 26 and 28. He was last seen alive by his 16-year-old son, Andrew Mikes, on the evening of July 26. 

Mikes did not show up for work on July 27, and investigators believe his 21-year-old son, Mikes Jr., who has been , did not see his father leaving for a bike ride that day, as he first reported to police Sunday morning.

Mikes Jr. also was seen on surveillance video purchasing a large quantity of cleaning supplies at a local store on July 27, according to Troy police.

Mikes Jr. was charged last Wednesday morning with  card to make purchases at the AMC Theatre and Johnny Rocket's in Auburn Hills on July 26. He was released last Thursday afternoon after his maternal grandparents paid his $50,000 bond, police said. He has been ordered not to contact his younger brother or leave the state.

Police say there is no known history of violent altercations between Mikes Jr. and his father. 

Several agencies have contributed to the investigation, including Michigan State Police, Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Montrose Police Department, FBI, Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office and the Major Case Assistance Team.

The Major Case Assistance Team includes investigators from the Auburn Hills Police Department, Birmingham Police Department, Bloomfield Township Police Department, Clawson Police Department, and the Rochester Hills substation of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
