Police Blotter: Missing Money, Vehicle Damage and Larceny

Here is a look into the city of Fenton police action from March 9 to March 15.

The investigated an incident on March 10 when a man reported $2,500 missing.

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said a 39-year-old Fenton Township resident dropped his vehicle off at , 3759 Owen Road, for some work to be done and when he returned to pick up the car he noticed $2,500 missing from the center console. Aro said the man told police that he did not believe the employees were responsible for the theft, but he suggested some friends he was staying with might have taken it. He told police that he wasn’t sure if the money was in the console when he brought it in for repairs.

Police interviewed witnesses and the mechanic who said no extensive time was spent inside the vehicle by any employees.

The Fenton Police Department referred the man, who was staying in Argentine, to the Argentine Police Department and closed the case.

 Missing Belt, damage to vehicles

Around 10:30 p.m. on March 10, police received a call about a male striking cars with a metal object near North Leroy and Second Streets.

An officer arrived on scene and found a man near the vehicles, but he had nothing in his hands.

Aro said the man reported he had visited a friend and returned to his vehicle and found a martial arts belt missing. The man told police he had seen people near his vehicle and that they had walked into a storage building, according to Aro.

He added the man told police he had assumed people had stolen his property and assumed they owned the nearby cars. He said that's why he began damaging them in retaliation.

Officers talked to the vehicle owners of the three vehicles that were damaged and the man was arrested. Police are contacting the prosecutor for a warrant request.

Larceny from a vehicle

Police are investigating a larceny from a vehicle, which was reported at 5 p.m. March 9 at , 404 Rounds Drive in Fenton.

Aro said a 44-year-old Fenton female returned from a workout to find her driver’s side window smashed out and personal property missing from the vehicle.

The case remains under investigation.
