Police Blotter: Police Chase Suspect Across U.S. 23

Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said loss prevention employees at reported that they stopped a man suspected of retail fraud outside the store around 10:45 a.m., when he began to run.

Aro said police observed the man running west across U.S. 23 near Owen Road toward the southbound entrance ramp. Officers apprehended the suspect, a 39-year-old Linden resident, along Owen Road.

Police arrested the man, and Aro said the man admitted to concealing a modem, valued around $100, in his pants and exiting the store without paying.

The man was lodged at the Fenton Police Department and given a notice to appear in court.

Stolen car

Police are investigating a report of a stolen vehicle from .

Aro said the sales manager at the store reported a 2008 black Grand Prix missing Thursday.

Police and store employees inspected the set of keys for the vehicle after it had been noticed missing Wednesday and discovered that one of the ignition keys had been switched.

Aro said the manager reported that someone had taken the car for a test drive Saturday and could have possibly taken the key and returned at a later date to steal the car.

Police are investigating the incident.
