Police Blotter: Purse Snatching, Break-ins

Police are investigating a missing purse incident that reportedly occurred at 7 p.m. Monday at the on Owen Road.

A 70-year-old Fenton woman told police she was loading items into her vehicle, when two witnesses approached her and said they saw a woman grab her purse and drive away in a black SUV.

Chief Rick Aro officers reviewed Walmart surveillance footage and it confirmed what the witnesses had reported.

Aro said detectives are following up on the investigation and have some leads because of charges on the victim’s credit cards.

Businesses report break-ins

Fenton Police are investigating reported break-ins at Great Lakes Satellite and Seven Lakes Periodontics, both on Torrey Road, which were reported around 10 p.m. June 27.

Officers said it appeared someone had broken into the back door of the businesses. and Aro said employees believed cash was taken.

Detectives are following up on the incident.

Missing hitch

A Fenton resident reported a missing hitch from his pickup truck around 9:15 p.m. June 27 on the 600 block of Holly Road.

Police have no suspects or evidence.

Retail fraud

Walmart employees called police on a report of retail fraud around 5:30 p.m. June 21.

Loss prevention personnel reported they observed a woman conceal multiple beauty products in her purse while grocery shopping. They told police she purchased the groceries, but did not pay for items in her purse.

Police arrested the woman on charges of retail fraud and Aro said the 24-year-old Linden resident admitted to the theft. The products were valued at $45.

Missing trees

Employees of the told police sometime between 3 p.m. June 18 and 10 a.m. June 20 two five-foot tall Japanese Maple Trees were missing from the property on the 1400 block of Dauner Road.

They were valued at $200.

Police have no suspects.
