Police Blotter: Retail Fraud Charges, Illegal Entry Reported, OWI Arrest

Here is a look at the city of Fenton police action from Sunday through Friday.

Police responded to a retail fraud complaint at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at .

Chief Rick Aro said store employees reported that a man had entered the toy department and attempted to conceal a child’s remote control car box before leaving the store without paying for the item. Aro said the man was stopped by loss prevention employees and later was arrested by officers on charges of retail fraud.

Police found he had several warrants pending from traffic violations and other retail fraud charges.

The 54-year-old Flint male was held overnight at the Fenton Police Department and then released.

Illegal entry reported

A 35-year-old Fenton man reported an illegal entry into his home to police around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Aro said the man reported that his ex-wife had dropped off a DVD at his home on the 100 block of Walnut Street without permission to enter the residence.

Police have forwarded the case to the prosecutor.

OWI arrest

Police received a report of a vehicle hitting a tree and a streetlight on the 3100 block of Silver Lake Road before continuing on the road around 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Aro said officers found the vehicle at an apartment complex near Poplar Street and interviewed the driver.

Aro said an officer smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, and during the interview, the officer believed the man had been drinking, Aro said. There was also damage to the bumper of the vehicle, which had bits of tree bark on it, and several scratches on the roof, Aro added.

Officers gave the man a preliminary breath test, which registered a 0.195 blood-alcohol content, Aro said. The legal limit in Michigan is 0.08. Aro said the man was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was held overnight at the Fenton Police Department.

Police have forwarded the case to the prosecutor.
