Police Blotter: Retail Fraud, Stolen Vehicle

Here is a look at police action in Fenton from Monday to Friday.

Police are investigating two retail fraud cases, said Chief Rick Aro.

One occurred around 2:30 p.m. Monday at while the other took place at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at .

In the Walmart case, police dispatchers received a call reporting a possible retail fraud and that the two male suspects had left the store. Police were advised that one man was walking towards and that the other had entered a white four-door vehicle.

Aro said an officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle on Owen Road and discovered the portable 500-gigabyte hard drive that had allegedly been stolen. Aro added that officers also picked up the other suspect and discovered a package of automotive light bulbs in his pocket that had also allegedly been stolen.

The suspects were identified as 23- and 25-year-old Fenton residents.

Both were arrested on charges of retail fraud and were lodged at the Fenton Police Department pending court arraignment.

In the Target case, police received a call from the store’s loss prevention department, which reported seeing a man place an iPod and an iPod case in his pocket and attempt to leave the store after purchasing another item, Aro said.

He added that store personnel detained the man until police arrived.

Aro said the 17-year-old Fenton resident was arrested on charges of retail fraud.

Stolen vehicle

Police are looking into a report of a stolen vehicle, Aro said.

He stated that police received a call at 6:15 p.m. Thursday from the car dealership, where an employee stated that his vehicle, which was being sold through the dealership on consignment, was missing.

Aro said the employee reported that he had parked the 2000 GMC Savannah van in the used car lot on March 9 and noticed Thursday that it was missing, stating that the keys must have been left in the vehicle.

Aro said detectives are investigating the incident.

No major problems on holiday

Aro said things were pretty quiet on St. Patrick’s Day. He said one disorderly conduct arrest was made at and police also had to break up one fight.
