Fenton Police Department detectives updated the city’s sex offender registry last week, confirming all but four of those listed.

According to Chief Rick Aro, 19 of the 23 offenders on the registry were confirmed to be living at the addresses they provided. Four others are currently being investigated, he said. Michigan posts the state's sex offender registry online here.

Police said that a black 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer lost control Tuesday morning on northbound U.S. 23 near Silver Lake Road, hit the median and flipped over. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to Aro, the vehicle came to rest against an abutment on the overpass that spans the Shiawassee River, nearly plunging into the water.

The incident is under investigation, Aro said.

Vehicle break-ins

According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, several cars were broken into late Monday night on the 13000 block of North Road in Fenton Township.

Sgt. Michael Ignash said that a total of five cars were vandalized. Some small items were stolen, and the interior of one of the cars was set on fire.

Ignash also said that no arrests have been made and there are no known suspects.

Marijuana possession

Fenton police arrested a 19-year-old Fenton man on Saturday when a small amount of marijuana was discovered inside his red GMC pickup truck during a routine traffic stop.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Leroy Road near South Long Lake Road, after police noticed the suspect without a seat belt on, as well as other “equipment violations."

According to Aro, the driver was acting visibly nervous during police questioning. He said that the suspect admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.

The suspect was arrested for possession of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. He was also served with a notice to appear in 67th District Court on May 23.
