Police: Man Doesn't Remember Crashing Vehicle From US 23 to Shiawassee River

Two vehicles flip in crash, no one seriously injured.

A man who drove his pickup truck off of the expressway, crashed into a vehicle on Torrey Road and continued into the Shiawassee River doesn't know how it happened, police said.

Fenton Police officer Dan Forbush said the driver of the truck said he was driving north on US 23 around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and the next thing he remembered was being in the river. Rescue crews transported the Flint man to the Genesys Regional Medical Center for minor cuts and small lacerations, Forbush said.

"He said one minute he was driving on US 23 and next he was in the river," Forbush said. "He said he didn't black out or anything."

The Flint man struck a pickup truck driving north on Torrey Road, near South Long Lake Road, causing both vehicles to flip. The driver of the second vehicle, a Fenton man, was uninjured.

Forbush said police issued the Flint man a citation unrelated to the crash. He refused to say what the citation was for. He said alcohol was not a factor in the incident and that the drivers of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
