Fenton Art Walk to Coincide with Bastille Day

Event to take place in downtown Fenton July 14.

The will use a slightly different approach this summer.

The second-year event has been scheduled the same day as the Bastille Day Road Race to bring and keep people downtown, said Sharman Lamka, representative for Fenton's marketing firm New Moon Visions, who is organizing event.

The for 10 years, bringing more than 1,000 runners downtown in 2010 and 2011.

Last year the was held on a Friday evening, but this year's event will take place from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. Last year, businesses on northern North Leroy Street and Silver Parkway where involved, but this year's event will be kept downtown, from Shiawasee Street to the . It will also include a French theme, the same as the race.

"I talked to the merchants and all the businesses downtown were happy. Business was up for the night," said Fenton Downtown Development Authority Chariman Craig Schmidt. "It was a really good event."

Lamka said the group would like to bring all kinds of entertainment and is looking for ideas. She also said the event will focus on fine arts and not crafts.
