Fenton to Launch New Web Site, Logo

The is set for a makeover.

The Fenton Downtown Development Authority, on Jan. 25, will reveal a new brand and Web site focused on promoting the town.

The  event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center. 

The program will showcase the new logo and Web site, explain how each will be used and discuss upcoming plans for Fenton. It will also include refreshments and giveaways.

The DDA partnered with New Moon Visions, a Milford-based marketing firm, to showcase Fenton. The company was hired for $49,700, with the DDA providing $46,000 and the Local Finance Development Authority also chipping  in.

New Moon Visions worked with city officials, merchants and residents to uncover the community's brand. It includes a new logo, tagline, Web site and marketing plan, which will be used to communicate all that Fenton has to offer to visitors, locals and potential business owners

"We wanted to get the message out to the rest of Genesee County, Oakland, Livingston and beyond that Fenton is a great place," DDA Chairman Craig Schmidt said. "We are looking for businesses to have an uptick in dollars. As a small community we want to get our name out there, on the radio, on the Internet, it's a tremendous package for us."

The DDA hired New Moon Visions in the summer of 2010 and the company went to work getting to know the town, said spokeswoman Natalie Burg.

Officials met with Fenton merchants, council members and residents to try and learn Fenton's identity.

"Fenton is really unique in that it retains the closeness of a small town feel, people are close to each other and generations of families stay here," Burg said. "But it also has access to the expressway and the big cities, it really has the best of both worlds."

New Moon Visions has worked with Canton, Brighton, Milford, Northville, Plymouth and several other towns around the state.

Schmidt said getting Fenton's name out there is important and he hopes it leads to people visiting the city.

"We don't have anyone that can run all the events for us," he said. "Everyone pitches in, but we felt we had to get some recognition, so we hired New Moon to work on some things and we'll see what happens.

"They are great group and they are really excited for us. We hope it helps us immensely."
