Five Things to Know Today—Oct. 11

1. The weather

Today is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 76 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight's forecast is mostly cloudy, with a low of 55 degrees.

2. Gas prices

Gas prices in the Fenton area were at a low of $3.32 per gallon late Tuesday afternoon. Stations offering this price were the Speedway at 3245 Owen Rd. and the Speedway at 3238 Owen Rd.

3. Animals moving in

More wild animals are making their homes in cities and suburbs, the Detroit Free Press reports. They include wild turkeys, ducks, foxes and pheasants. Since October and November are the top two months for vehicle/deer crashes, drivers should exercise extra caution on the roadways.

4. Linden Historical Society to meet

It's the October meeting of the Linden Historical Society at 7:30 p.m., at the Shiawassee Shores Clubhouse, 1515 W. Rolston Rd., Linden. Claude Cranston will discuss the "days of the old cement plant." Members are encouraged to attend, and guests are welcome.

5. Fiction book club to meet

A fiction book club meeting is planned at noon at the Jack R. Winegarden Library, 200 E. Caroline St., Fenton. It's free to attend. For book titles or additional information, call the library at 810-629-7612.
