Meet the Candidates: Cary Neuville-Justice

Fenton Patch takes a look at 51st District House of Representatives candidates.

The time is vote is almost here.

In addition to the Republican presidential primary Tuesday, voters in the 51st District, covering Fenton and Linden cities along with Fenton and Atlas township and most of Genesee County, will choose the next member of the Michigan House of Representatives after Paul Scott's recall in November.

There are three candidates running, including Republican Joe Graves, Democrat Steven Losey and Green Party candidate Cary Neuville-Justice.

Today, we get to know Cary Neuville-Justice.

1. What are your work and educational backgrounds?

Occupation:  Tax Professional
Education: Master's in Business Administration

2. How old are you, what city do you live in and who are your family members?

Neuville-Justice, 52, is a third generation resident of Linden.  She is a tax professional who has been married to her husband Clyde for 15 years.

3. What public offices have you held, and how are you involved in the community?

Neuville-Justice worked for H & R Block and Jackson-Hewitt before establishing her own tax consultant business. Her experience prompted the Linden City Council to appoint her to the Board of Review. In that position, she has worked face to face with residents struggling with their property taxes.

4. Why did you decide to run for the 51st District?

“After what this district has been through, neither the Democrat party or the Republican party deserve this seat," Neuville-Justice said.

5. What issues, in your opinion, are big ones for the area?

“It’s important to unite and move forward on issues that have widespread support in both parties. When voters choose an independent voice, it will send a powerful message that will change the political dynamics in Lansing. I will make a positive difference in ten months. I will get results," Neuville-Justice said.
