No Jury Seated in Dominick Calhoun Case

A potential pool of jurors is sent home in murder trial.

The search for a jury in the Dominick Calhoun murder trial continues.

The Flint Journal is reporting the judge has sent home a pool of 78 potential jurors in the case against former Tyrone Township man Brandon Hayes, who is charged with first degree murder and child abuse in the beating death of his former girlfriend’s son.

About 200 questionnaires were sent out to potential jurors Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton told the Flint Journal.

Fenton Patch ran a column earlier this week, written by a juror that was dismissed. The link was posted on the Justice for Dominick Calhoun! page earlier this week and many people responded.

Connie Dobbs said, “I don't know how they can even begin to get a jury that can not take sides. I mean you must have been under a rock to not hear about Little Dominick. I think about this little boy and his true family everyday. I pray for them to get through this nightmare. My heart goes out to them.”

Karen Birner said “Wonderfully written...I am to report for jury duty tomorrow, I pray it is not this case. I could not do it either.”

The Dominick’s Law! Facebook Page, which has 47,746 followers, posted this message Thursday.

“We will be temporarily shutting all pages down due to the fact they cannot find an impartial Jury due to the media coverage in this case. Please stand by as they find a jury and we will be back up and running as soon as the Trial starts”

The trial was expected to begin this week.
