$60 in Gas Stolen, Beer Taken from VG's

The following information was provided by the Fenton Police Department; an arrest does not necessarily indicate a conviction.

BP gas station reports $60 theft of gasoline

At approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, Fenton police received a call from BP gas station employees on Owen Road for a report of stolen gasoline, said Chief of Police Rick Aro. A store employee told an officer that an unknown man in his 30s pumped $60 of regular gas into his red Ford F150 pickup truck and left without paying.

The store employee had a possible license plate number for the truck, which police later discovered was incorrect, Aro said. There are no other suspects or evidence. The red pickup truck possibly had a silver tool chest in the back of it, he said.

Man arrested for theft of six-pack

Fenton police received a report of retail fraud at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, from the VG's Foods in the 18000 block of Silver Parkway. Store employees told the police officer that a man in a black hat, black sweatshirt and blue jeans took a six-pack of beer and left the building, Aro said.

Within a few minutes, police located the man walking in the 3300 block of Owen Road. Officers recognized him from previous contacts, and he was brought back to a patrol car and questioned, Aro said. He told police he took the beer because he didn't have money to buy it, Aro said.

He was brought to the police station and lodged in the lockup overnight, pending an interview with a detective in the morning, the police report said. The man, 23, of Fenton, had four previous larcenies in the area and was released with a notice to appear in court, Aro said. He was told not to return to VG's due to the theft, the police report said.
