Primary to Determine if Brothers Will Face Off for Genesee County Drain Commissioner

Here is a look at the contest races for the Genesee County Primary on Aug. 7.

The Aug. 7 primary will determine if two brothers will face off to be he next Genesee County Drain Commissioner.

Democrat David Stewart will take on Democrat Incumbent Jeff Wright in the primary, with the winner taking on David's younger brother, Robert Stewart, a Republican.

"This is not collusion," David Stewart told the Flint Journal. "The thing of it is, if we end up running against each other ... Let's just say I don't jump into the arena to come in second."

There are a couple of other contested races coming up Aug. 7 for Genesee County.

Argentine Township Police Chief Dan Allen and retired Flint Deputy Police Chief Tim Johnson will be challenging incumbent Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell.

Several candidates are also vying to be on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. In the nine districts, five races will be in the primary.

In District 1 (Flint area), incumbent Omar A. Sims faces Bob Jackson.

In District 9 (Davison area) Democratic candidates will be Pegge Adams and Douglas Theodoroff.

In District 4 (Flint area) Democrats face off with incumbent John Northrup being challenged by Chris Del Morone.

In District 5 (Grand Blanc area), Democrats Carey Lee and Mark Young will battle in August. Republicans William Roger Buell, William F. Delaney, Jon Sheerin, and Rick Wilson will also face off.

In District 7 (Clio/Flushin area), incumbent Archie Bailey will be challenged by Andrew Everman and Kathy A. Ridley in the Democratic primary.
