Organizers plan to collect signatures all summer long in the area.

If you haven’t run into someone asking you to sign a petition to recall Gov. Rick Snyder yet, you probably will in the near future.

“We are out here because we don’t like our most vulnerable citizens paying taxes for businesses,” Wigton said.

The group has a goal to collect 1.1 million signatures across the state by Aug. 5, Wigton said. Signatures from 807,000 registered voters statewide are required. Wigton added that she has collected several hundred in the Fenton area.

“We plan to be out all summer long,” Wigton said.

William Armitage, of Fenton Township, stopped Thursday to sign the petition.

“He knocked the hell out of the Homestead Act. Now I’m not getting $2,400 I would have gotten,” he said. “Now I’m going to knock him."

Janet Meredith, of Rose Township, also stopped and signed the petition.

“I want to recall the nerd. He’s going to tap our income,” she said. “And it’s not like we have a whole lot of extra income.”

Wigton said she will be at the same location on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. She also plans to be at big events around Fenton.

She said many signatures were obtained Monday at the Fenton Area Public Schools Board of Education meeting, .
