I have saved multiple buildings in Holly from the wrecking ball. The Mill is a landmark building and a federally registered historic district. Saving this treasure was my most recent contribution to the community.
Two projects, restoring Historic Fort Wayne on the Detroit River, and fighting the Beer Lobby that has shifted their tax onto property owners.
I was Person of the Year in 2011 by Citizen for Alcohol Policy.
Why did you want to run for office?
No one in office wants to fight the Beer Lobby, and no one talks about job loss that is caused by governments failure to stop China’s trade violations. We must stop China.
What personal and professional experiences make you qualified to hold that position?
After returning from Vietnam, I have strived to correct the political errors that have eroded our standard of living.
In 1983, I started a recall when Governor Blanchard raised the income tax 38 percent. It led to the recall of two state senators that changed control of the Senate. I have learned how Lansing fails to make real reforms and continues to harm citizens.
What is the most important issue and what do you intend to do about it during your term in office?
The loss of our jobs to China and Mexico because we have been sold out by our government. We have allowed jobs to be taken over by corrupt countries that pay no taxes, and send us junk. This is a basic problem that is not even discussed, it’s IGNORED. Office holders and candidates act as if nothing can be done and dismiss the issue.
What is your vision for the area, where do you see the area in 10 or even 20 years, and what does the area need to do now to realize that vision?
The area will continue to decline and jobs will continue to be lost, until we get leadership with profound knowledge.
If we don’t change everyone in office, Michigan will continue to decay.
Our education system needs to be consolidated and brought into the management of the 21st Century. We are below average in the United States, with above average teacher pay. A total of 30,000 drop-out of Michigan schools a year. We need to get them through high school. Rather than focusing on getting them college ready we need to get them through high school first.
