Torrential Rain Hits Fenton, Rose Township Man Survives Scary Crash

As usual, there was plenty of news in Fenton this week.

Here is a look at what you might have missed.

Sunday, Sept. 2

Fenton Patch shared the story of move to its new location at 495 Fenway Dr. in Fenton. The store first opened in 2007, and it features clothing, accessories, jewelry and more.

Monday, Sept. 3

We provided you with the news about the Loose Senior Center's new which ended its first season in the Tri-County Senior Softball League with the championship win.

The annual walk across the Mackinac Bridge was Monday, and Fenton Patch shared information on the new contest. Participants can share photos, videos and other memories of past bridge walks, for chances to win a Pure Michigan gift pack and a special tour for two to the top of the Mackinac Bridge.

Tuesday, Sept. 4

Fenton Patch provided a story about the first day of school, featuring interviews with students and staff at and Lake Fenton Community Schools has more than 100 new students this year, an administrator reported.

Also on Tuesday, we showed you some photos, along with comments from area residents after a caused flooding on North Leroy Street and other areas of Fenton.

And Tuesday's Fenton Patch also had information from the about a destruction of property report after a woman allegedly threw a bottle of water onto the hood of her ex-boyfriend's vehicle. In addition, a Fenton resident told police her stepdaughter's laptop computer and flat screen TV were missing.

Fenton Patch shared the story of more kudos for former Fenton resident who has won a 2012 Characters Unite Award. Ford, an anti-bullying speaker who suffers from a neuromuscular disorder, will receive a $5,000 grant from USA Network and a hometown award ceremony this summer.

Wednesday, Sept. 5

Fenton Patch provided more news on the 50- to 100-year rain event that hit Fenton on Tuesday, after Department of Public Works Director Dan Czarnecki updated

Also on Wednesday, we had news on how the city is preparing to renew its contract for ambulance services with Fenton has contracted with the firm since 2010, Fire Chief Robert Cairnduff said.

Thursday, Sept. 6

Fenton Patch reported on a 22-year-old Michael Johnson, who survived multiple life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle was hit from behind on Grange Hall Road in Holly Township last Friday.

Also on Thursday, we shared information on for services from Fenton's building and zoning departments. Fenton City Council could approve the increases at its meeting on Monday.

And we had the news about the starting its third season of free movies at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. The first will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a showing of Bran Nue Dae, billed as an Australian aboriginal musical comedy.

Friday, Sept. 7

Fenton Patch shared the story of Laura Blanchard, who is running her in Fenton from Japan with the help of teacher Shelly Gillett-Behrens. The Blanchard family, of Fenton, is adjusting to life in Japan for a couple of years, after Rob Blanchard was transferred there for his job with Nissan.

Other news on Friday included the as we shared news from the Fenton Police Department on a missing license plate and a broken window on a vehicle left parked outside Fenton High School.

And we had the story on circular photo contest and the winner for September, Jessica Brown, who photographed an Indian woman on her wedding day. There's still time to enter the contest for October, which has the theme of Pets & Animals.

Saturday, Sept. 8
