I Like Chicken!

Do you like a fine chicken meal?

Twenty years, or so ago, I was working in lovely, Flint. A few of the crew, and I were attending a long, drawn out seminar that took place every Tuesday over an eight week period. Seems to me it was Dale Carnegie's, "How To Win Friends And Influence People." That bit of information has absolutely nothing to do with the story, except to say that it was a high-energy, 4 hour evening seminar, so we needed to find some place to eat before the class, least we run out of energy... I'm tired just thinking about it!

Being that the seminar took place at the hotel at 75 & Pierson Road, we had that entire corridor of eateries from which to choose. One of them I remember is Ya Ya's Chicken. Not recalling any negative thoughts about the place, or the food, has to mean that it was likely pretty good, or at least, not bad. So, we ate there a few times back then, but never again. (It was on the other side of town from where we worked)

Fast forward a bunch of time to this past Christmas' shopping season. The bride and I were out looking for hints at , across the street from the north end of Silver Parkway. It was dark. We were getting hungry, and, voila, please notice the V in 'voila'. So many Americans want to pronounce it 'walla', but there is no 'walla' in French. They pronounce the heck out of the 'V', so it's voila. Where was I? Oh, yea...

Voila! There was a place, just a few feet from where we were! Sandy had never been there, and, as you may recall, it had been many years since I'd had the pleasure. We walked in, and the place was empty. We ordered our meals, and proceeded to eat right there. Bottom line? It was scrumptious! I had an immediate love affair with Ya Ya's chicken dinners.

We've been back several times since then, and it continues to be excellent food, and for the most part, the restaurant is empty. We don't get it. How can food that good go un-noticed, un-eaten?

I need to say that I don't have a clue who the owner is, nor am I affiliated with Ya Ya's in any way. However, I consider this restaurant a Fenton treasure, and I'd hate to see it shut down due to lack of support. I would only recommend, if you haven't tried it, please do yourself a favor and give it a shot. If it's been a while since you've been there, please try it again. I feel fairly confident you won't be disappointed...
