Restaurants Make Me Phat

Restaurants Make Me Phat. Is it time to act?

I was just pondering... Considering we live in a society that promotes "it's never my fault", how long do you think it will be before we start suing restaurants for our obesity? Why not? You remember what happened to the cigarette manufacturers? And more recently, NYC's mental giant, Mayor Bloomberg attempted to outlaw super-sized drinks.

Look, every time I go to my favorite restaurants, I'm given a meal that would satisfy a grown grizzley bear. When I'm trying to be good, I'll order a salad. The letuce is falling off the plate, it's so full. Worse yet, there's a half cup of dressing with a caloric value of a strawberry cream pie! It doesn't matter where you go. It could be the place with bottomless-fries, or the all-you-can-eat fish dinner, or the the 24oz, well-marbled, are-you-sure-you're-getting-cow steak.

Let's don't even talk about the fast-food places. Never mind. Let's. When I was working, insert big smile to accentuate WAS, I spent a bunch of time in Europe. Besides the fact they had zero pot-holes on their roads, which has to be a topic of another blog, what struck me was how skinny the Europeans were. The reality likey is, they weren't skinny. They were normal, and we, the Americans were overly phat. (Anyone who knows me would expect me to spell fat like phaght. To them, I appologize. This will also have to be a topic for another blog)

The other thing that struck me was the absense of fast-food joints. Occasionally you might see one, but you could travel hundreds of miles before seeing another one. Funny thing was, I didn't know a single adult who frequented these places. They claimed it was only the kids who, because of their love for America, and all things American, felt it was cool to eat there. My fear is, American culture will be responsible for establishing the first generation of European blimpoids, like me, and that would be a travisty.

The question begs to be answered, how long before a hungry law firm files a class action lawsuit against a fast-food company, on behalf of American two-legged elephants like me? Any wagers how long it will take?

I have to go now. It's getting close to another feeding episode...
