"Stupid" Traffic Lights

I believe Fenton is littered with traffic lights that are not required on a 24 hour per day basis. However, for some reason, they continue to do their thing, despite zero traffic. Technology to control lights based need has existed since the 1990s, but our town continues to use "stupid" lights. My two favorite, technologically-lame traffic lights are;

1. Shiawassee and Owen. This is a 24 hour x 365 day "solution" to a 4 hour per day, 9 month a year problem. How many times have you been stopped by that light on Owen and not had a single car, not one waiting on Shiawassee? Absolute lazy engineering.

2. South Long Lake Rd and Torrey. I travel that road twice a month at around 1AM, and that light is still operating as if it was the middle of the day. There are almost never any cars coming on Torrey, so I sit on South Long Lake with my thumb... never mind. What a total waste of time and money. And they wonder why people run red lights. Lazy Engineering.
