The Fenton Public School District has called off classes Tuesday because of bitterly cold wind chill temperatures forecast for southeast Michigan.

The closing was announced on the school’s web site.

The Arctic cold temperatures are expected to persist through Wednesday morning. There’s no word yet on whether school will be in session Wednesday.

I can't believe Baker college didn't cancel classes today due to the dangerous weather. All of the major universities closed: U of M Ann Arbor (first closing since 1978), EMU, CMU, SVSU, and then the local colleges U of M Flint, Davenport, & Mott.

The powers that be must think that because the students are not little kids, that the cold doesn't affect them as much. Cold is cold and is dangerous at any age.

Agreed! Apparently the issue is Baker is on terms, not semesters so they have a shorten period of time for education. However, safety and common sense should come first. I know I won't be happy if something happens to my student that attends Baker.
