Lake Fenton Homecoming Court Honored to Represent School

It’d be easy for a homecoming queen or king candidate to be arrogant, but at , the seniors are quick to humbly thank their classmates and do their best to represent the school.

Lake Fenton's kicked off Monday and will continue until Friday’s parade and football game against North Branch and Saturday’s dance at the high school. Both events will feature the homecoming court members.

“I feel loved by my class,” said senior king candidate Sam Wilson. "I feel like my class wants me to represent them. They think I am mature and worthy to be on homecoming court, and that’s a big deal."

“It was exciting to hear your name called,” queen candidate Rachael Mundy said. “It’s a privilege to represent your class, and I hope we do it well.”

Lake Fenton’s homecoming week has a board game theme and will include a Queen’s Court assembly and powder-puff game Wednesday.

“There is so much do, but it’s a lot more exciting than stressful,” queen candidate Laura Bellinger said.

The king candidates plan to show their togetherness by wearing sunglasses into Wednesday's assembly.

“I get to dress up cool and wear sunglasses,” king candidate Wayne Simons said.

The event will be a family affair for Katey Brophy as her brother, Joshua Brophy, is a freshman representative.

“For senior year, it’s pretty big to get on homecoming court, so it’s pretty awesome,” she said. “My brother is on the court, too, so it’s kind of cool we are both on it. It's really exciting, and I am looking forward to it.”

Queen candidate Katie Handley said the festivities will be even more special because of the closeness of the group.

 “I think it's fun because of the group we have,” she said. “We are all close friends, and to be with them and get the experience, this is pretty cool.”
