New Lake Fenton Superintendent Earns Good Marks on First Annual Evaluation

Three-year contract, $118,000 salary, will not change

New Community School Superintendent Wayne Wright has good marks on his first annual evaluation. The board of education rated the superintendent, who earns a $118,000 salary, as meeting or exceeding expectations in all areas, said President Bob Grubbs.

Wright has a three-year contract with Lake Fenton, the terms of which will not change as a result of his evaluation, Grubbs said. "I am very pleased with the skills and efforts made by Mr. Wright."

The board unanimously approved Wright's evaluation at its Monday, May 23 meeting. Board members rated the superintendent on student achievement, evaluations, communications and negotiations. A fifth category, budget, will be included after the district's next audit, Grubbs said.

Regarding challenges Lake Fenton Community Schools will face in the next year, Wright listed state funding. "Our biggest issues will be those created by the state legislature."

Wright was superintendent for Birch Run Area Schools for seven years before beginning his career with Lake Fenton Community Schools on July 1, 2010. He and his wife reside in the Lake Fenton school district.
