Workout at Fenton's Bush Park

Exercising outdoors is great for you. This blog post provides a summary of the benefits.

This last winter was so incredibly mild. It's like the winter that never really was. I do feel sorry for the winter sport lovers out there, but I personally enjoyed the mild winter. Normally I would wait another month to take the workouts outdoors but all this beautiful weather had me itching to get back outdoors.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6 pm

I will be holding class outdoors at

You can get in an amazing workout in the park. I want to invite you out to try my new Playground Workout. I offer a two week free trial for anyone who wants to stop in and see what it is like. You get to try a few workouts and see if it will be something you enjoy. I am so excited about this! We will be using the swings, benches, picnic tables and more. I will bring some portable equipment as well. I have jump ropes, medicine balls and other easily portable equipment. I design the workouts to get your heart pumping and muscles moving.

Acccording to Womens Health magazine, "In 2007, researchers in England found that outdoor workouts are nature's Zoloft. When they compared the mental benefits of a 30-minute walk in the park with an indoor jaunt, 71 percent of the subjects who took it outside said they felt less tense afterward, while 72 percent of the indoor crew felt even more stressed."

According to a  new study  published in 2011 suggests that exercising outdoors may lead to greater mental and emotional benefits than indoor exercise. After examining 11 studies with 833 participating adults, the author’s concluded that when compared to indoor exercise, outdoor exercise led to

  • Greater improvement in mental well-being
  • Greater feelings of revitalization
  • Increased energy and positive engagement
  • Greater decreases in tension, confusion, anger and depression

Those who exercised outside also said that when compared to working out indoors, they found greater enjoyment and satisfaction with outdoor activity and were more likely to continue with their outdoor workouts.

And to quote one of my students, "This is way better than at the gym"

Another plus to working out outdoors is the Vitamin D gained from natural sunlight and you certainly can't beat the fresh air in comparison to a stuffy gym!

So many reasons to get outside and  try it!
