One of Michigan's Hidden Treasures

Coffee and cocoa growing in Michigan...Who knew! One of Michigan's best kept secrets.

I found the coolest place the other day. I decided to take a little mini vacation the other day. I wanted  to take the children to the water park in Dundee. This heat has been crazy. The children decided they didn't want the waterpark (which came as a total shock to me. No fancy waterpark hotel just a motel that had a pool. That was all they wanted. One of my children said, "I don't like the waterpark. I don't like to get splashed". My other boy said, "waterparks are a rip off!")

I was in search of things to do with the children and found one of Michigan's hidden treasures... Hidden Lake Gardens.Michigan State University runs it. This is such a beautiful place! I want to go back once a season. I will include plenty of pictures that I took with my Iphone.

The conservatory was great. Three different climate contolled domes The Arid Dome (full of desert plants), The Tropical Dome ( Cocoa, citrus, sugar cane, papaya, coffee, vanilla and many others are found under this dome) and the Temperate House.

There are lots of trails to walk as well.

Admission is $3 per person. I was talking to the motel manager and he said they used to charge by the car load.

It is about 30 minutes west of Dundee. I can't wait to go back in the fall.
