'Reunion with a Cause' at Holly High School

Be a part of the 2011 "Reunion with a Cause" fundraiser at Holly High School track from 6-10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12.

One hundred percent of the donations raised by this event go directly to Genesys cancer patients at the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute in Flint.

These funds help pay for items such as patient medicine, co-pays, home health care, equipment and gas that the patients may not be able to afford.

The evening begins with cancer survivors walking the first lap on the Holly High School track. Family members, friends and other supporters celebrate this event with their loved ones.

This event "symbolizes hope for those afflicted with cancer," notes Nick Evans, system vice president of the Genesys Health Foundation. "It's a fun-filled night to celebrate and commemorate those lives touched by cancer, and raise funds to support these individuals. Everyone in the community is invited to show their support by attending this event."

In addition to the walk, Reunion with a Cause includes refreshments, entertainment, family activities, a cancer survivor celebration and a candle walk ceremony.

The 2010 Reunion with a Cause raised $79,000, which helped to pay for transportation to and from cancer treatments, medication, medical equipment such as bath benches, rental equipment such as wheelchairs, private pay aides, and other special needs not covered by health insurance.
