Police Blotter: Underage Drinking, Larceny, Computer Theft

Take a look into the city of Fenton Police action from Feb. 25 to March 1.

Police arrested two people on charges of underage drinking Friday.

Chief Rick Aro said an officer observed three people standing outside a red Grand Prix at Torrey and North Roads around 2:30 a.m.

Aro said the officer went to investigate and said all three were visibly intoxicated. The officer asked for identification and two Fenton males, presented identification indicating they were 19.

According to the report, two of the suspects had also said they had been in a fight before the officer arrived. Aro said the two 19-year-old males were arrested in and given citations for underage drinking. One male was transported to Genesys Regional Medical Center, while the other was released to his parents.

Breaking and entering by tree

Police are investigating a breaking and entering case, which occurred at 10:30 p.m. Feb. 25 on the 1000 block of North Road.

Aro said residents reported being awakened by their apartment door being slammed shut. The residents went to investigate and found the front door unlocked, when it had been locked, according to the report. Aro said they check the apartment and found a purse missing.

The residents also noticed their sliding glass door to a deck was shut, when it had been opened a couple inches, Aro said. He added that officer went outside to investigate and determined the perpetrator may have climbed a tree to gain access to the deck and sliding glass door.

Aro said officers checked with neighbors and found that a similar incident had occurred at a nearby apartment, and the woman believed her son, who frequently stayed at the apartment, may have been responsible.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.

Computer trouble

Police are investigating a larceny complaint that occurred at 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at , 1459 North Leroy Street.

Aro said an employee reported that two people had entered the store without the bell notification from the front door going off. According to the report: A male and female stood at the counter and while the female asked a question about her computer, the male left the store. The female then left the store after the question was answered.

Aro said the employee was suspicious of the encounter and checked the surveillance footage, which allegedly revealed there were originally three people in the store, with one going behind the counter and concealing a Gateway laptop computer before exiting the store. The computer was in for repairs and did not work at the time, employees told police.

Employees are working on giving video footage to police to help identify the suspects, Aro said.
