Runners Invade Fenton for Bastille Day Run/Walk

Event brings around 1,000 runners to downtown Fenton.

Runners and walkers were greeted with beautiful weather for the annual Bastille Day Run and Walk in downtown Fenton Saturday.

The event brought around 1,000 runners.

Davisburg resident Michael McCarty, 19, earned the overall 5K title with a time of 16:54. Bastille Day veteran Sue Larsen won the female 5K event with a time of 18:41.

The for 10 years. Since the first race in 2002, Fenton’s annual Bastille Day 5k run/walk and 15k run has grown from a modest 250 runners and walkers to the 2010 record of 1,037 competitors. Proceeds from both races go to support the Genesee County Habitat for Humanity.
