Fenton Artist Makes Old Items Into Something New

In the days leading up to the Fenton Art Walk, Fenton Patch will introduce you to some of the participating artists.

The is just around the corner.

On July 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., merchants and artists will participate in the second-year event, and officials are hoping hundreds of residents will join the fun in downtown Fenton.

Visitors will be able to come to a booth in downtown Fenton (just outside ) and receive a map, which will include instructions along with artist and merchant information. People then can visit participating businesses to observe the art, meet the artists and explore what each store has to offer.

Residence: Fenton

Type of art: My latest passion is re-purposing old items into new and different items. For the last 10 years I have been transforming beds into carved and painted benches, windows into wall art, carved and stained gourds for table art.

How did you get started as an artist?: I've always been interested in art. I have been doing murals, wood carvings, faux painting mosaics from broken pottery and garden design forever.

What is your next project?: Most recent I have been taking damaged vintage jewelry and creating mosaic wall art and making bridal bouquets with vintage brooches, very lovely and unique.

Where can your art be found?: Everything I have mentioned can be seen at in downtown Fenton.
