“We are always in need of volunteers to walk dogs in the evenings or anytime people can come in and help out,” Morey said.

Volunteers may be any age; however, children younger than 18 need to be with an adult. You can access the volunteer applications online at adoptapetfenton.com. Print the application, fill it out and bring it to the volunteer meeting at 5:45 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. The meetings usually last about 1½ to 2 hours, depending on the number of people attending.

You can also help Adopt-A-Pet by taking part in Fenton's 3rd Thursday Chili Cook-Off on Jan. 19. Each participating business will have a special chili recipe inside their store, and people can vote for their favorite with dollars. The store with the most "votes" at the end of the evening wins with all of the proceeds benefitting Adopt-a-Pet.

Donations can be sent to Adopt-A-Pet, Attn: Addition, 13575 N Fenton Rd, Fenton, MI 48430 or go online to www.adoptapetfenton.com and donate securely through the website.
