Osborn has defeated her first challenger in six years.
She’s been in a position of leadership in Fenton for more than a decade, and she’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Sue Osborn has served as Fenton’s mayor since 1999 and council member since 1985, and on Tuesday, she was re-elected to the position in a tight 1,101-927 race. "To be here 27 years and to have people say we want you to do two more is really humbling," Osborn said. "After that long, most of the time, people want change." She defeated challenger Tim Faricy, who has served on the City Council for the past four years. It was the first time Osborn has been challenged in six years. She will serve a two-year term. Osborn first became involved with Fenton's City Council in 1985 when she was appointed to a position. She also served on…

Council will have to appoint new member to fill final two years of term.
Three people will be elected to the Fenton City Council today and their first job might be to appoint another member. Councilwoman Dianne North resigned from her seat at Monday's work session, citing personal and professional reasons, the Fenton Press reported. North has been on Fenton City Council since 2001 and is currently serving her third term. She has served on the Fenton Beautification Commission and the Zoning Board. There are two years left on her term. That potentially could mean an unsuccessful candidate today could end up with a seat in the near future. Incumbent Cheryl King, former Department of Public Works director Les Bland, former Fenton Mayor Patricia Lockwood and business owner Michael Piacentini are competing for three…
