Fenton Tigers Get Pumped with Homecoming Pep Rally, Parade

It's Homecoming week in Fenton, and the Tigers enjoyed their pep rally and parade on Friday.

Homecoming has come to Fenton, and Fenton High School held its pep rally on Friday morning. Then students received an early dismissal to go home for the weekend. On Friday afternoon, the Homecoming Parade wound its way through downtown Fenton, as people gathered along the streets to watch. Leroy St. in Fenton. Beverly Knox-Pipes, a fired Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) administrator, is accused of misusing more than $87,000 in taxpayer money for personal gain, the Flint Journal reports. Through her attorney, Knox-Pipes has denied claims of misusing funds and equipment, but has not denied allegations of an affair with retired Superintendent Tom Svitkovich…

Concern Arises over Playground Equipment from Ellen Street Campus

Some parents upset over fate of what they helped raise money for.

The fate of playground equipment Parent-Teacher Organization volunteers raised funds for several years ago is causing some controversy for Fenton Area Public Schools. The equipment was removed from the district's Ellen Street Campus last year, when renovations took place. Since the PTO donated the equipment to the school district, it is the district's property and administration will decide what to do with it, Superintendent Dr. Timothy Jalkanen said. It might not be in appropriate condition to use or sell anymore. Parent Debbie Knox, who helped raise money for the playground equipment, said some parents are upset. About 10 years ago, three elementary school PTOs were asked to donate playground equipment for the Ellen Street Campus, …
