At least five crashes occur in less than an hour near Fenton, and also a 33-car pileup north of Fenton on US 23, hours after a horrific crash in Detroit.

Near white-out conditions caused several accidents in Fenton and several crashes across the region Thursday afternoon. Most of the Fenton accidents happened between 12 and 1 p.m. when the weather conditions worsened. Fenton Police Lt. Jason Slater said two accidents occurred near the US 23 exit ramp and Torrey Road. He said one involved two cars and another was a single car accident. Slater said another single accident occurred on North Road near the Fenton Water Plant. He said the driver went off the road. I've noticed that the roads aren't salted as often this year. When I used to travel to Flint to work at about 5:30 in the morning on 23, 23 was often one of the last expressways to be salted....I often asked myself...who makes these decisions? There were many people using 23 to travel north to work in Flint, ( of course that was 12 years ago)...still now I notice that 23 is about the last to get …   more ›
