Fenton Jinglefest is a Hit on Saturday

Lighted parade, photos with Santa, Jingle Jog, fireworks, s'mores and more highlight annual Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce event.

Fenton’s Jinglefest on Saturday drew people from near and far, and the balmy (for December) weather certainly didn’t decrease attendance. Cheryl Jarding, of Rapid City, South Dakota, who was visiting Lisa DeLavergne, of Fenton, made Jinglefest part of her trip. The two ran the 5K Jingle Jog together, with Jarding winning her age group and DeLavergne taking fourth in hers. Jarding said Jingle Jog was very well-organized. “I like to  run on black top, so that was really good,” she said of the course. DeLarvergne liked the mild weather for the race. It’s not the only race they’ve run together. “She runs half marathons,” DeLavergne said. They ran a 30K together in Wyoming through the Big Horn mountains, Jarding added. “That was an adventure,” …

New for Fenton Jinglefest — Fireworks Finale

Fireworks will blast off after 6 p.m. lighted Christmas parade on Saturday, over the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.

Saturday’s Fenton Jinglefest will be a real blast — literally — with a new fireworks finale. “We’re excited about the fireworks,” said Shelly, Day, Fenton Regional Chamber of Commerce president. The fireworks finale will be very short, at 8-10 minutes, but the chamber hopes to raise more money for future, bigger shows, Day said. The cost for this year’s eight-minute finale is $2,000. People can see them right after the Christmas parade, which begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The fireworks will be visible over the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. In addition, many Jinglefest activities begin at a new time, 3 p.m. on Dec. 1, Day said. These include the return of horse-drawn wagon rides downtown, courtesy of Caretel Inns of Linden. And there will …

Nothing to do with the DDA nor are the fireworks meant to detract from the meaning of CHRISTmas. Rather it is meant to attract visitors to downtown Fenton. Sounds like you have an ax to grind with the DDA, save that for a DDA meeting. Try volunteering with the Jingle Fest committee and see the hard work and dedication these volunteers put into making this event happen for our community to enjoy.   more ›

New business opened on Silver Parkway about two months ago.
