Four years ago today, on Aug. 24, 2007, a tornado struck Fenton around 5:30 p.m. causing major damage. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Genesee, Livingston and Oakland County until 1 a.m. Wednesday night. The 2007 storm uprooted trees, ripped off roofs and collapsed a wall at Tractor Supply Co. on Owen Road. The National Weather service is reporting the conditions are right for a possible tornado. That was an intense storm. I remember the sky being green as I drove home from Flint to Hartland from getting my number for the Crim 10-mile race. As I passed Fenton, the rain was driving down so hard I think I was doing about 15 mph on U.S. 23.   more ›
