Scott Lynch, chairman of Fenton United Methodist Church administrative board, recently talked with Fenton Patch.
There has been a lot of controversy as to why Fenton United Methodist Church officials objected to Michigan Brewing Company's liquor license in March and then changed their minds last week and dropped that objection. On Monday, the Fenton City Council will discuss the brewery's license. Fenton Patch recently talked with Scott Lynch, chairman of Fenton United Methodist Church administrative board, to clear up some of the confusion. Here are his answers to Fenton Patch's questions. What was the first reaction to Michigan Brewing Company coming to town? “At the end of 2010 we learned they had received approval from the city. We had conversations. We had our first board meeting, and many board members had questions about what we were going to …

Brewer/general manager Bill Tadrick said construction is likely to start in the fall.
Michigan Brewing Company officials want beer brewing, not bad blood. That’s why brewer/general manager of the old fire hall project Bill Tadrick is glad to say he has worked things out with Fenton United Methodist Church Officials over their objection to the company’s liquor license. “They had legitimate concerns,” said Tadrick, who declined to explain details. “We addressed those concerns and we came to the agreement that they would drop their opposition. We want the same things for the community as they do.” Church officials could not be reached for this or any other previous stories on the issue. “We realized we were on the same page, so it looks like it’s going to work out,” Tadrick said. After initially objecting to the Michigan Brewing Company’s alcohol license, it appears the Fenton United Methodist Church will drop the opposition. The Fenton Press reports that church officials met with Bill Tadrick, brewer/general manager for the Michigan Brewing Company fire hall project, Thursday and the two sides came to an agreement. Tadrick told Fenton Patch that officials want to be a good neighbor. Church officials could not be reached for this or any other previous stories on the issue. The Fenton Press article stated that Michigan Brewing Company agreed to a couple of terms the church had, but Tadrick declined to comment on those terms. The Liquor Control Commission received the objection on May 18. Downtown Development …

Continuously dragging up past actions is not very productive. It sounds like the church and the brewing company have had a meeting of the minds and are in agreement to move forward in a positive direction. We should applaud and support their efforts.   more ›
