The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan charged Chad Alan Cole, 45, of Holly, with several federal crimes of child pornography after a lengthy investigation, according to Holly Police. The charges include: Count 1 – 18 USC sec. 2251(a) Production of Child Pornography Count 2 – 18 USC sec. 2252A(a)(2) Knowing Receipt of Child Pornography Count 3 – 18 USC sec. 2252A(a)(5)(B) Knowing Possession of Child Pornography Count 4 – 18 USC sec. 1470 Transfer of Obscene Material to a Minor Through a joint investigation with Holly Police Department, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, it was learned that Cole had been communicating with a minor via the internet, …

The suspect, a 45-year-old Holly man, was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Police executed a search warrant of a Holly home Thursday in connection with Obscene Communications to a Minor charges. According to a press release from the Holly Police Department, on Feb. 14 at approximately 4:45pm, officers of the Holly Police Department executed a search warrant on Rosette Street in the Village of Holly. The subject named in the search warrant was located by officers sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of the home. Upon making entry into the home and receiving full cooperation of the homeowner, a search pursuant to the warrant was made, the report said. Holly Police arrested a 31-year-old Keego Harbor man on felony drug charges Thursday after a raid in the Village of Holly at Well Greens, a medical marijuana dispensary on North Holly Road. Holly Police along with Oakland County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the location. Two additional search warrants were also executed in other locations. Guns, drugs, cash and other drug related items were recovered during the searches, according to a press release from the Holly Police Department. Police released no other details. Former Royal Oak Cop Michael Smith is expected to be arraigned this afternoon on 20 counts resulting from a state task force investigation, Michigan Attorney General's Office says.
The state Attorney General's office charged a Holly man and former Royal Oak Police officer with 20 counts for the alleged possession and distribution of child pornography. From September 2011 through January 2012, it is alleged that then-Royal Oak Police Officer Michael Smith, 41, of Holly, downloaded and possessed child pornography on his personal home computer. Smith allegedly distributed some pornographic images to other users through a public Internet file-sharing network, according to a news release from Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.
